Old age is an unavoidable part of our life cycle and should be lived gracefully rather than grudgingly. In today’s fast paced world we only start noticing signs of old age much after the gradual process is well underway. Home for the Aged is a place where the elderly people above the age of 60 are given a shelter irrespective of their caste, creed or religion. Siddeswara Rural Development Society has succeeded in proving day care shelter for the aged at Hiriyur, Chitradurga District by creating a sense of family spirit among all its residents. The management gives utmost importance in providing love, care, concern, attention and joy, which is expected by all the aged persons. A relaxed, peaceful and homely environment is provided to all its residents. The centre is a platform that initiates a better understanding of the problems of ageing from a social perspective and provides a platform for the aged as well as those concerned to come together to share and care.

Presently, we have 50 and they are provided with food, medical care and recreational facilities. We are collaborating with Department for Empowerment of Differently Abled and Senior Citizens, Bangalore to run this home. The elderly people get to share their feelings with people of their own age who understands and supports them in the final stages of their lives.
